Driver Competency Assessment and Pre-Employment Driving Test is a corporate road safety service that evaluates the theoretical knowledge, vehicle-control skills, risk perception, and driving behavior of employees being assigned a company vehicle or candidates applying for professional driving positions.

The assessment provides measurable data to support vehicle assignment and driver recruitment decisions, determine each candidate’s current competency for driving duties, and identify individual development needs.

How Is Driver Competency Assessed?

The driver assessment process consists of two main stages: a theoretical knowledge assessment and a practical driving test. The process is conducted by qualified driving instructors in accordance with DUZ Academy’s standardized assessment criteria and the DVR road safety approach.

1. Theoretical Knowledge Assessment

Candidates’ knowledge of traffic rules, vehicle safety systems, defensive driving, and safe vehicle operation principles is assessed through an online or written test.

2. Practical Pre-Employment Driving Test

Candidates are assessed in real traffic conditions accompanied by a qualified instructor. The following areas are observed and scored during the practical driving test:

  • Vehicle control and maneuvering skills,
  • Compliance with traffic rules and overall approach to safe driving,
  • Risk perception, observation, and early hazard recognition,
  • Parking and low-speed maneuvering skills.

Driver Assessment Report

Following the assessment, an individual Driver Competency Assessment Report is prepared for each candidate. The report is provided to the Human Resources and Fleet Management teams and includes the candidate’s strengths, development areas, driving risks, and the instructor’s professional assessment.

Candidates receive one of the following outcomes based on their suitability for driving duties:

  • Eligible for Company Vehicle Assignment / Low Risk
  • Company Vehicle Assignment Not Recommended / High Risk

The report provides an assessment to support the organization’s vehicle assignment or recruitment decision. The final decision remains subject to the organization’s own recruitment and fleet management procedures.

Benefits for Corporate Fleet and HR Processes

  • Driver Risk Profile: The candidate’s driving behavior and development areas are identified before vehicle assignment or appointment to a driving role.
  • Decision-Making Support: Human Resources and Fleet Management teams receive measurable assessment data regarding the candidate’s driving competency.
  • Targeted Development Plan: Individual training and development recommendations can be prepared based on the identified areas for improvement.
  • Standardized Assessment: A consistent vehicle assignment and driver selection process is supported by assessing all candidates against the same criteria.

Driver Competency Assessment and Pre-Employment Driving Test can be tailored to the organization’s operational requirements and is available exclusively to corporate clients.
